Assessing the Safety of Settlements from Flood Risk

The fact that Egypt falls within the arid and semi-arid areas, makes it always vulnerable to sudden storms, which have increased significantly during past ten years. Climate change is one of factors cause increasing storms frequency, intensity expansion cover new areas. During three days, from November 11 13, 2021, a severe storm hit city Aswan its suburbs, leaving behind extensive property damage loss life. Where heavy rains, fell in short time, on Eastern Desert Mountains led torrential rains (flash flood) flowed plains through paths valleys, causing several villages, are located hydrologically active valleys (Al-Heita, Al-Kimab, Umm Buirat Abu Al-Rish Qebli). In this paper, 2021 will be analyzed using Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) data, with temporal special resolution 30 minutes 0.1o respectively. data give distribution for each 1 hour days. amount water velocity also simulated (HEC-HMS) hydrological model. addition, (HEC-RAC) model used order simulate flood time step. results provide an actual simulation what happened storm. applied again highest values produce worst scenario. final part paper highlights value as supportive tool urban planning achieve sustainability. So, both scenario were compared development plan study area. Then, suitable recommendations accordingly suggested areas at risk ensure sustainable future development.
